This year marks the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day, and the City will be joining forces with our local Chevron to celebrate. Volunteers and officials will gather Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 9 a.m. at Legacy Park in the Foxboro area of the City. The Arbor Day celebration will feature brief comments by City officials and local Chevron representatives. Tree planting will follow.
The City is excited to partner with Chevron who demonstrates an extraordinary amount of environmental care through their work. Chevron truly understands the responsibility we all have to the planet, and their support gives us the boost we need to create more impact in our city through the planting of additional trees.
The annual Arbor Day celebration is one criteria for the City to be named a Tree City USA. North Salt Lake first received that designation in 2009 when City officials recognized the importance of trees to the community as a source of not only beautification, but environmental health and renewal. To be eligible for this designation, cities must have a tree board, a tree care ordinance, and an annual tree budget in addition to an Arbor Day proclamation and observance.
We invite the public to join us Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 9 am at Legacy Park (1140 W. 1100 N.) as we plant trees to commemorate the City’s 14th year as a Tree City USA.
