Arbor Day

The City of North Salt Lake and Chevron are once again pleased to partner for the 2023 NSL Arbor Day Celebration. We invite our NSL community to join us in planting trees at Legacy Park on April 29, 2023 at 9:00 am. Families, friends and groups are welcome at this event. Please meet on the west side of the park near the splash pad. Park address: 1140 W 1100 N, NSL.

This annual event, with generous funding from Chevron, provides an opportunity for volunteers to assist the City's Parks Department in placing more trees per year than otherwise might be possible.

The benefits trees bring to urban environments are endless, such as shade, cleaner air, cooler temperatures and higher property values. The Arbor Day Foundation has planted nearly 500 million trees around the world since 1972.

To become a Tree City USA,
a community must have:
  • A tree board or department.
  • A tree care ordinance.
  • A community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita.
  • An Arbor Day observation and proclamation.

Chevron CVX_Logo_THEC_4-line_small_TM_RGBThe City is excited to partner with our local Chevron who demonstrates an extraordinary amount of environmental care through their work. Chevron truly understands the responsibility we all have to the planet, and their support gives us the boost we need to create more impact in our city through the planting of additional trees.

The annual Arbor Day celebration is one criteria for the City to be named a Tree City USA. North Salt Lake first received that designation in 2009 when City officials recognized the importance of trees to the community as a source of not only beautification, but environmental health and renewal. To be eligible for this designation, cities must have a tree board, a tree care ordinance, and an annual tree budget in addition to an Arbor Day proclamation and observance.

We invite the public to join us for our 2023 celebration on Saturday, April 29, 2023, as we plant trees to commemorate another year as a Tree City, USA.
