Hill Air Force Base Recruitment Info

HILL AIR FORCE BASE will likely fill HUNDREDS OF SKILLED TRADE JOBS PER YEAR, for several years to come, as new fighter jet and missile sustainment work comes to the Ogden Air Logistics Complex.

Temporary Direct Hire Authority (DHA) has been granted by Congress for certain skilled trade occupations to accelerate the federal hiring process.

Jobseekers that ALREADY POSSESS SOME HANDS-ON, PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE related to at least one occupation listed below may apply directly without going through USAJOBS.

  • Applicants must already have hands-on experience that is related to one or more of the 31 occupations listed above, or they will be rated “unqualified” and will not be added to the DHA Referral List.
  • Jobs are typically filled at the middle performance level – starting as either WG-7 Step 1 ($19.50 per hour), or WG-8 Step 1 pay level ($20.95 per hour) depending on the occupation.
  • Selectees with well-proven experience may be offered a higher starting pay grade.


  • This Recruitment Notice is for the general public and not current Air Force civilian employees.

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Males age 18-25 must be registered for Selective Service to apply for any permanent civilian job:


  • Applicants that do not already possess some hands-on experience related to at least one of the occupations listed above must apply to specific announcements on USAJOBS.
  • Helper level positions in the above occupations will typically be filled through the Pathways Intern Program or special hiring programs for veterans and the physically disabled.
  • DHA cannot be used to hire interns for skilled trade occupations, so students must apply to specific Pathways Intern Program announcements posted on USAJOBS. 


  • No military commitment is required for these civilian positions.
  • Some positions may be deemed drug testing designated positions and require participation in random drug testing.
  • Appointment will likely be contingent upon passing a physical examination.
  • Employee will likely be required to obtain and maintain appropriate background investigation or security clearance.
  • Employee may be required to drive a motor vehicle. A valid driver's license may be required for the position.
  • Employee must maintain current certifications depending on series.
